Before the teaching
It’s always an uneasy job for me to open my class to
others, let alone to nearly 30 experienced English
teachers in Hsinchu city. To get progress, peer
observation is a direct and effective way to reach the
goal. So there is no excuse to say “NO” but to take
the challenge! I’m very lucky to be a member of the”
Hsinchu City English Consulting Team” and benefit a
lot from my teammates’ good ideas in teaching.
Through brainstorming meetings, we worked out
some practical and interesting ways of teaching for
the teaching demonstration together. The process of lesson plan preparation makes me
realize the importance of support from peer groups. |

Warm Up |
1. Review vocabulary and sentence patterns
-Teacher draws a picture and asks Ss “What is he/she doing?”
-Whoever answers correctly gets praise.
2. Make a sentence with “ WordItOut ”!
-“ WordItOut “ is the word cloud generator that gives you control
with many custom settings. https://worditout.com/
-Show all the vocabulary of this lesson on screen and ask Ss to
make sentences with these words they see.
-Encourage Ss to make crazy sentences like: My sister is cooking
in the living room.

Main Teaching |
【reading on p.64】
1. T gives popsicles to each team and asks Ss to help each
other to read sentences on them.
2. Ss discuss the sentences on sticks and put them in order.
3.One student from each team comes out to write the order of
the sentences (with numbers) and T asks Ss to make
comparison with different orders.
4. T shows the picture of p.64 and asks:
“Who are they? Where are they? What are they doing?”
5. Ss read the paragraph and finish the exercise on the page.

This worksheet is the practice of what students have learned in the lesson.
After the teaching
Though the teaching part took me the most time to prepare, however, the discussion after
teaching is the main role in the task. I appreciate the feedbacks from class observers and all
the ideas are motives for me to revise my future teaching. “Unity is strength”, I do gather a
lot strength from this task!!
