Before the teaching…
As a member of the Hsinchu City English Consulting Team, It is highly pleased to open my classroom teaching to other teachers. Before my open-classroom teaching, my fellows and I discussed and shared ideas about the lesson. During these periods, I have tried many strategies, methods, or tools to sustain students’ attention in learning English. To share useful and practical teaching materials, it took me some time to organize the lesson plan. No matter what materials you use, it will easily catch students’ attention to use the topics which close to their real life. My purpose of the lesson is to help all students sustain attention. Therefore, I showed my organization of the lesson in the preparing meeting. We worked out some ways for my teaching demonstration. After that, I realized the importance of support from my group members.

During the teaching…
According to 12-Year Basic Education Curricula, it is important to develop learners’ social participation. Thus, I designed the guessing activities which can motive students’ attention. It will be bestowed with a caring heart after knowing the importance of multicultural learning. For example, Ishowed a part of photos and students can guess who heor she is. The answer might be YouTubers, singers or actors, etc. Meanwhile, I taught the sentence pattern of this Unit, and led students to do the oral practice.

Besides, I found the English board game can train students to cooperate with their classmates and promote their learner autonomy. They can learn by doing and enhance learners’ individual potential and self-confidence. If they face some problems, they can communicate with others and try to figure out the solution. It is the effective way to cultivate learners’ problem-solving skills.

At the end of the class, I wanted to assess students’ learning performance so I used Plickers and IRS interactive response system to know what mistakes the students might make. Apart from that, this is a great tool to review what we learn today and teachers do not need to prepare any mobile devices. Integrating information technology into instruction is a way to grab students’ learning focus and enablethem to achieve effective learning goals.

After the teaching…
Itis thankful to have many positive feedbacks from class observers. Though the discussion after the teaching, I can totally understand every student’s learning situation and different point of view from other teachers. It is very grateful to strengthen my teaching skills and help students’ English learning performance. Finally, I would like to thank my fellows. Because of them, I can have much power and energy to prepare my open-classroom teaching. Thank you all so much.
